Default Permissions

The Default Permissions feature in DataGuard CPM allows you to automatically claim Legitimate Interest Consent Purposes when a new Citizen is created. This feature streamlines the process of ensuring that the necessary permissions are in place from the moment a Citizen's record is established in your system.

How Default Permissions Works

• Legitimate Interest Only: The Default Permissions feature is specifically designed for Legitimate Interest Consent Purposes. When configured, it automatically claims these purposes without requiring any manual intervention at the time of Citizen creation.
• No Backfill for Existing Citizens: It's important to note that the Default Permissions feature does not retroactively apply to Citizens who were created before this setup was implemented. Therefore, to ensure all relevant Citizens have the necessary permissions, you should set up this feature during the initialisation of your application.

How to Set Up Default Permissions

To configure Default Permissions, follow these steps:

1. Create a Template: Start by creating a template with the reference "citizen-creation-defaults".

2. Add a Permissions Block: Within this template, add a Permissions block that includes all of the Legitimate Interest Consent Purposes you want to be automatically claimed by default.

By setting up this template, any new Citizen created in the system will have the specified Legitimate Interest purposes claimed automatically, meaning you wont need to do this manually.

Best Practices

• Initial Setup: Make sure to configure the Default Permissions feature when you first initialise the application to avoid any gaps for Citizens created before the feature is activated.
• Template Management: Regularly review and update the "citizen-creation-defaults" template to ensure that all relevant Legitimate Interest purposes are included, especially as your data processing activities evolve over time.
