Templates in DataGuard CPM define the layout and structure of a widget, bringing together all the necessary elements that a user interacts with during the consent collection process. These templates are highly customisable, ensuring that they meet both your organisation's needs and legal requirements.

What is a Template?

• Widget Structure: A template structures the entire widget, integrating various components like consent purposes, preferences, permission statements, and privacy policies into a cohesive user interface.

• User-Friendly Design: Templates are designed to be easily created and maintained by non-technical users, such as marketers and legal compliance teams, through the Admin section of the CPM UI. This accessibility ensures that important forms can be updated quickly without needing technical intervention.

Components of a Template

A template is composed of several key blocks, each serving a specific function within the widget form:

Permission Blocks

A permission block includes a permission statement (text) and a list of consent purposes. Permission statements can be created and edited directly within the template UI, while consent purposes must be created beforehand. Each consent purpose is accompanied by a label, and optionally, a description and positive and negative value cards to provide further context.

Preference Blocks

A preference block incorporates a preference configuration, including a title and the defined choices that require labels. Preferences can be both created and edited within the template UI, allowing for easy adjustments as user engagement strategies evolve.

Text Blocks

A text block is simply any additional text you wish to include within the widget form, offering flexibility to add instructions, disclaimers, or other relevant information.

Privacy Policies

Each template must include a privacy policy to comply with the legal requirement of showing a link to the currently active privacy policy when collecting consent. If a privacy policy is updated—such as adding a new version or changing the URL—all templates using that policy will be automatically updated to reflect the changes.

Customisation and Translation

• Editable Text: All button labels, messages, and other text elements displayed by the widget can be fully customised within the template. This ensures that the language and tone used are consistent with your organisation's branding and messaging guidelines.

• Multilingual Support: Templates support the translation of all text into multiple languages, allowing you to provide a seamless experience for users in different regions or language groups. This capability ensures that your consent collection forms are accessible and understandable to all users, regardless of their language preferences.
