DataGuard Support sets up this integration for you
This guide shows you what to prepare in Mailchimp and which details to send to DataGuard Support.

Mailchimp is a marketing automation and email campaign platform. The Mailchimp integration keeps the subscription status of members in your Mailchimp audiences in line with the consent they gave in DataGuard CPM.

Prerequisites

Access to the DataGuard CPM Platform.
Administrative access to your Mailchimp account.

If you don't have access to the DataGuard CPM Platform, please contact us.

Prepare your Mailchimp account

Step 1: Create an API key

Log in to your Mailchimp account.
Under your profile, select Account & billing.
Open Extras > API keys.
In Your API keys, click Create A Key and give it a descriptive name, for example "DataGuard CPM".
Copy the key straight away. Mailchimp won't show it again.

Step 2: Find your data center

Your data center is the part at the end of your API key. For example, if your key is 0123456789abcdef0123456789abcde-us6, your data center is us6.

Step 3: Find your Audience ID

In Mailchimp, click Audience in the left-hand menu.
Click More options > Audience settings. If you have more than one audience, select the one you want to sync.
Under Audience name and defaults, copy the Audience ID (also called List ID).

What to send DataGuard Support

Detail	Example / notes
Your CPM Application ID	Found on the Credentials page of the DataGuard CPM UI.
Mailchimp data center	`us6`
Mailchimp API key	The key you created in Step 1.
Consent option → audience mapping	For each consent option that means "subscribed to email marketing", the Audience ID it should update. You can give us the consent purpose and option names. Support will look up the IDs.
Create new members?	For each mapping: yes or no. If yes, a new member is created in the audience when one doesn't exist yet.
Sync existing citizens?	Yes or no. If yes, citizens already in CPM are synced when the integration is created.

To rotate your API key, change an audience mapping or pause the integration, contact DataGuard Support with the details you want to change.
